WP Peel & Reveal WordPress Plugin User Manual

The "WP Peel & Reveal" plugin for WordPress is a piece of cake to use, and it will allow you to quickly and easily set up a corner peel on your blogs. These are useful for drawing attention to special offers that you may want to advertise on your website or for other specific offers that your customers may desire.

After installation, simply visit the settings page and upload the peel images of your choice – a small 98x87 "pre-peel" and a larger 500x500 peel ad, if you want to customize the plugin to your own tastes, although this isn't required if you prefer to simply use the supplied images.

You can create custom templates, while still using the supplied templates, for your various Peel and Reveal event setting choices to make a wider variety of choices available to you. Then set a URL to redirect those people who click on it. You can also specify if the URL opens in a new window if you want to.

If you like, you can combine WP Peel & Reveal with a Link Cloaker or Link Rotator for an even broader variety of ways to use the plugin.

Supplied with the plugin are 10 pre-made PSDs you can edit with Photoshop, and also some blank no-text PNGs to use with your favorite graphics editor if you don't have Photoshop.

Download the zipped WP Peel & Reveal plugin to your computer. Log in to your WordPress site. Hover over the Plugins tab to expand, then click Add New.

Locate the zipped WP Peel & Reveal plugin file, select it then click Open.

Your plugin will now be uploaded and installed. Your next step after installation is to click the Activate Plugin link.

If installing from WordPress does not work for your blog, you may also do it the old fashioned way by first unzipping the WP Peel & Reveal plugin file to your computer. Open your FTP software and upload the entire “wp-peel-and-reveal” folder to your WordPress plugin directory which will look like this file path inside your FTP software.

Once upload has completed, log in to WordPress admin, navigate to Plugins. Locate WP Peel & Reveal and click Activate. Simply upload the plugin zip using the WP admin panel browser uploader and activate.

If your blog or website displays with an error message when you activate the plugin or otherwise adversely affects your blog or website, then the first thing you should do is delete the plugin with your FTP client or using the delete function on the plugins page, and your blog or website will be restored to normal.

Once you've installed and activated the plugin, you'll find a new admin block in your admin panel menu bar.

You can set a URL to redirect anyone that clicks on the peel, and by checking the "New Window" box you can force this link to be opened in a new window or tab.

You can then choose to use a pre-defined template by checking the next box and a new drop-down will appear.

If you don't like any of the pre-defined ones, then you can upload a "before" and "after" image by using the browser buttons and then browsing to your own images. The image size for the "after" image should be 500x500, but the "before" image can be any size from 75x75 upwards. The plugin will only use the top right 75x75 pixels of the "before" image.

Once you've browsed to the images you wish to use and all the other fields are set to your satisfaction, then just click the "Update" button.

Next view the front of your blog and reload to see the peel in the top right corner.

If you hover over it with your mouse, the page will peel away to reveal the full ad.

One of the very nice things about this plugin is you can create your own templates and upload them by FTP to your site. You can then access these templates from the drop-down.

Each of these folders contain 3 files – both a before and after image, plus a small amount of CSS.

You can create new folders and add them to the templates folder. You can do this locally on your desktop and then add them to the plugin template folder by FTP.

The plugin will then automatically see the new folders and add them to the drop-down selector. In this way you can create many customized peel ads ready for use on your sites.

The statistics link will just show you a simple percentage based on the number of views to clicks.

Here you can see the Views and Click Counts for each of your WP Peel & Reveal entries. Just an additional great feature we like passing on to our customers.
